Different types of Cast Nets

This cast net is better for catching large live baits like mullet or big goggle eyes.

When catching live ballyhoo, try the 8-foot radius, ¼” square mesh cast net. These live baits are awesome for mahi-mahi, kingfish and all other medium sized pelagic, reef and wreck fish.

When using a cast net, the bigger the bait you’re after, the bigger the mesh size you’ll want. And the more the baits school or ball up, like ballyhoo, the smaller the radius cast net you can use.
